Reflections on the 1/8/07 Biology class
It was one mind-blogging article after another. One common thread that some of the articles share is how far scientists are going in play "God" in manipulating and modifying nature. But how far is too far? And do we have any rights to stopping other people doing all these things?
Is this too far?

One personal question I have after reading all these articles is whether I should have children in the future. If it is going to be in such horrible state by 2050, then would I want to have children and let them face the consequence of this generation?
Overpopulation is a problem. But if people stop having children (or at least less), then how would we deal with problems that's brought upon by an aging population?

An ironic phenomenon is that while overpopulation is becoming a threatening problem, the average American house size has more than doubled since the 1950s, according to this article:

Hi Donna,
You bring up a lot of good questions in your blog. The websites were also incredibly interesting. Is that male pregnancy site real or is it just made up? It's amazing that something like that could even be possible, it seems a bit unnatural. I'm not exactly sure what I think about it at this point besides that it is strange. Thanks for posting the links. See you in class!
I checked on that male pregnancy thing, the site is a hoax. Certainly hard to tell at first though! If a guy was pregnant, I'm sure the world would hear about it in a heartbeat

Donna, I was thinking the same thing. The indigenous people of the Americas always believed in maintaining the earth for seven generations into the future. Will we be around 1,000 years from now with all the radiation and chemicals that we are bringing forth? Why would we want to bring children into this world to suffer. When the indigenous people were enslaved, they would not multiply their children would not suffer.
